2. What Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Wanchan:
Account information — your name, email address and password (or sign-in provider token if you use Apple or Google Sign-In)
Dog profile — your dog's name, breed, age, and profile photo
Walk data — GPS route coordinates, walk duration, distance, and location names
Health logs — symptoms, vet visits, medications, and other health events you choose to record
Moments and photos — photos and notes you capture within the app
Daily check-ins — mood selections and wellness responses you submit
Device location — used during live walks and to find vets near you. Location is only accessed when you actively use these features.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the Wanchan experience:
To build and evolve your dog's Personality Dossier
To generate AI-powered insights about your dog's health, personality, and wellness
To power dog-voice chat personalised to your dog's profile
To generate your dog's weekly diary entries
To track your Bond Score and daily streaks
To send you daily check-in reminders (only if you enable them)
To process subscription payments
To improve app performance and fix bugs
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the app's core function.
4. Third-Party Services
Wanchan uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:
Supabase — database and authentication hosting. Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers. Supabase Privacy Policy
Anthropic (Claude AI) — powers AI personality dossiers, dog-voice chat, health analysis, and food safety checks. Only relevant dog and health data is sent for each request. No data is stored by Anthropic beyond the request. Anthropic Privacy Policy
Google (Gemini) — powers video behaviour analysis. Video clips are sent to Gemini for analysis and are not retained. Google Privacy Policy
RevenueCat — manages subscription billing. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple App Store. We do not store your payment details. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
PostHog — anonymous product analytics to understand how the app is used and where improvements are needed. No personally identifiable information is shared. PostHog Privacy Policy
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase's secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to your account only through row-level security policies.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
6. Location Data
Wanchan requests access to your device's location only when you start a live walk or use the Vet Finder feature. Location data from walks is stored as part of your walk history. We do not track your location in the background.
7. Photos, Videos and Camera
Wanchan requests camera and photo library access only when you choose to add a photo or video (e.g., dog profile photo, moment, AI health analysis, or video behaviour analysis). Photos and videos are used only for the requested analysis and are stored securely and visible only to you.
8. Children's Privacy
Wanchan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent for optional data uses at any time
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
